Resending a contract or sharing a signing link

Remind a signer to sign, or copy the direct signing link from contract History and send it yourself.

Written by Antonio Sierra

If your signer lost the email or it never reached them, you don't need to restart the signing process. You can send a reminder from the booking, or copy the direct signing link and share it yourself over any channel.

My signer lost the email — how do I resend it?

Send Contract Reminder re-notifies whoever is next in line — the signer, or the counter signer once the signer is done — without retracting the contract or invalidating anything that's already been signed.

  1. Open the booking and go to the Contract tab.

  2. Click Send Contract Reminder.

  3. Gigwell emails whichever party the contract is currently waiting on. Nobody who has already signed is contacted again.

While you're on the Contract tab, check the signer's email address. A single wrong character is a common cause, and fixing it means the reminder lands the next time.

How to get a direct link to a contract and send it myself

Once a contract has been sent, Gigwell generates a direct signature link for it. You can copy that link and share it however you like — email from your own address, WhatsApp, a text message — instead of relying on the automated notification. This is also the way around an email that keeps going missing because of a spam filter, a corporate mail gateway or a mistyped address.

  1. Open the booking and go to the Contract tab.

  2. Open History.

  3. Click the link icon next to the contract. That copies the direct signature link.

  4. Paste it into whatever channel your signer will actually see and send it.

The link opens the same signing experience as the emailed invitation, and signatures collected through it are recorded on the booking exactly the same way.

If the link isn't there

The signature link only exists once the contract has actually been sent. If the contract is still a draft, there's nothing to link to yet — send it from the Contract tab first, then come back to History and copy the link.

If the contract has been sent and you still don't see a link icon in History, message us from the messenger and we'll get it to you.

Good to know

  • Reminders only go to the party whose turn it is. If you're waiting on a counter signature, the reminder goes to your counter signer, not back to your client.

  • Sharing the link doesn't replace the signing flow — the counter signer is still routed automatically after the signer, and the contract status still moves on its own.

  • History on the Contract tab is the full record for a contract: every version, plus views, signatures and downloads. Check there to see whether your signer has opened the document before you chase them, or after you send the link.

  • The link is specific to that contract, so don't reuse an old one from a previous version. If you've retracted and reissued, copy the link again from the newest entry in History.

  • Reminding is always safer than reissuing. Retracting and sending a new contract resets signatures that have already been collected — see the article on retracting and reissuing a contract if you do need to start over.
