Connecting ChatGPT to Gigwell

Add Gigwell MCP to ChatGPT with developer mode and ask questions about your roster, team and reports.

Written by Antonio Sierra

Gigwell MCP lets you connect ChatGPT to your Gigwell data. Once it's connected, you can ask ChatGPT about your roster, your organization's members and your reports in plain language, and it pulls live answers from Gigwell.

Before you start

  • Gigwell access: API/MCP access has to be enabled for your Gigwell user. It's currently available to agency users with the Owner role. Start a chat with us and we'll turn it on for you.

  • ChatGPT on the web: custom MCP servers work in ChatGPT on the web, not in the mobile apps.

  • ChatGPT plan: you need a paid plan. On Business plans, only workspace admins and owners can use developer mode. On Enterprise and Edu, an admin may need to grant you developer mode first. If you don't see the options below, check with your ChatGPT workspace admin.

  • Have your Gigwell login (or company SSO) ready. You sign in through Gigwell's secure login, so you never type your password into ChatGPT.

Connection details

Set it up

  1. Turn on developer mode: in ChatGPT, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.

  2. Open Plugins: open Plugins from the sidebar (or Settings → Plugins) and click +.

  3. Add the server: enter the name and MCP server URL above, choose OAuth if asked, and create the connection.

  4. Sign in: when ChatGPT opens the sign-in window, log in with your Gigwell account, review the permissions and approve.

  5. ChatGPT then shows the tools it found from Gigwell. You're ready to go.

ChatGPT's menus change from time to time. If you see Settings → Apps → Advanced settings instead, developer mode is there, and you add the server from Apps → Create.

Use it in a chat

  1. Start a new chat.

  2. Open the + / tools menu and select Gigwell MCP, or @mention it.

  3. Ask your question. The selection applies to that message, so select or @mention it again when you need fresh Gigwell data.

Things to try

  • "Using Gigwell MCP, who are the members of my Gigwell organization?"

  • "Using Gigwell MCP, show me everyone on my roster."

  • "Using Gigwell MCP, which types of reports can I run?"

Troubleshooting

  • The connection fails right away: API/MCP access probably isn't enabled for your Gigwell user yet. Start a chat with us and we'll check.

  • You don't see Developer mode or the + option: your ChatGPT plan, workspace settings or role may not allow custom MCP servers. Ask your workspace admin.

  • Adding the server fails or times out: check the URL is exactly https://api.gigwell.com/api/mcp with no spaces, then remove it and add it again.

  • ChatGPT isn't using Gigwell: make sure you're on the web and Gigwell MCP is selected for that message.

  • Sign-in problems: remove the server and add it again, then sign in with the right Gigwell account.

Security

ChatGPT connects through Gigwell's secure login, so your Gigwell password is never shared with it. You can remove the connection in ChatGPT any time, or ask us to turn off API/MCP access for your user.
