Understanding radius clause warnings

Why am I getting radius clause warnings?

Written by Antonio Sierra

A radius clause restricts an artist from playing within a set distance and time window of a booked show. When Gigwell shows a radius clause warning, it has found another booking for the same artist that falls inside the configured radius and date window of the one you're looking at.

How to see what it's conflicting with

  1. Click through on the warning itself.

  2. Gigwell opens the other booking it has matched — the one inside the radius and date window.

  3. Check the dates and the venue location on both, and decide whether the conflict is real.

  4. If it is, adjust the date, the venue or the radius terms on one of the bookings.

The warning is informational

It does not block anything. You can still generate the contract, send the offer and confirm the booking with the warning showing. It's there so the conflict isn't missed, not to stop you — plenty of them are deliberate, like two shows in the same city in one weekend where the buyer has agreed to it.

Good to know

  • The warning text can't be hidden or switched off, so you'll keep seeing it while the two bookings sit inside the window. That's expected rather than something going wrong.

  • If the warning looks wrong, check the radius distance and time window on the clause itself. A radius set wider than you intended, or a window of months rather than weeks, will flag bookings you'd never consider a conflict.

  • The check runs per artist. A warning naming an artist you weren't expecting usually means two bookings are pointing at the same roster entry.
