Troubleshooting sign-in

Fix problems signing in to Gigwell, getting signed out, or errors when signing in with Google.

Written by Antonio Sierra

Most sign-in problems come down to one of a handful of causes. Work through the checks below before assuming something is wrong with your account.

I can't log in, or I keep getting signed out

  1. Check which email address you're typing. If your login email was changed at any point, the old address will fail in a way that looks exactly like a wrong password. Use the current one.

  2. Reset your password from Forgot your Password? on the sign-in page. This works for any active account. For the full steps, see the Reset Your Password article.

  3. If your password contains unusual characters, reset it to one without them. Certain special characters can cause a reset or sign-in to fail.

  4. Check nobody else is using the same login. Shared logins aren't supported — two people signed in on one account will keep signing each other out. If that's what's happening, each person needs their own user.

  5. Update your browser and switch off ad blockers, then try again. An out-of-date browser or a blocker can break the sign-in page.

  6. Try a private window, which rules out stale cached data.

Google sign-in gives me an error

If Google sign-in fails with an error rather than a normal "wrong password" message, it's usually because that email address was previously linked to a different Google account — and the old link is blocking the new one.

  1. Sign out of Google in your browser, then sign back in with the account that matches your Gigwell address.

  2. Try a private window, so no other Google account is signed in at the same time.

  3. Update your browser and switch off ad blockers, then try again.

  4. If you have a Gigwell password set, sign in with email and password instead — that will get you working while the Google link is sorted out.

If that doesn't fix it, this one usually needs us to clear the old link on our side — there's no setting you can change yourself to fix it.

If that doesn't work

Message us from the messenger and we'll take care of it. Include:

  • the email address you're signing in with,

  • whether you're using a password or Google sign-in,

  • the exact wording of the error,

  • a screenshot if you can.

Good to know

  • Password resets go to the address on file for that user. If you need it to go somewhere else, the login email has to be changed first — message us and we'll take care of it.

  • If you don't have a password set at all because you've only ever used Google, Forgot your Password? on the sign-in page will set one for you.

  • If you're an Agent Owner and somebody on your team is locked out, you can deactivate and re-add them on a fresh address yourself under Settings → Manage Subscription → Agents, though a password reset is usually quicker.

  • Google sign-in errors tend to happen when an address has been used by more than one person over time, for example a shared bookings address that's been reassigned.

  • Using Google sign-in doesn't change your permissions. If you also can't see things you expect after signing in, that's a separate issue — see the article on apparent loss of access.

  • The mobile app uses the same credentials as the web. If one works and the other doesn't, see the mobile app article.
